OOOI stands for OUT, OFF, ON, IN - the four standard timestamps for a flight: OUT of the gate, OFF the ground, ON the ground, and IN at the gate.
The four events
- OUT - pushback / brakes released at the departure gate.
- OFF - wheels leave the runway (takeoff).
- ON - wheels touch down (landing).
- IN - parking brake set at the arrival gate.
How OOOI becomes your logbook times
Block time = IN - OUT (gate to gate). Flight time = ON - OFF (wheels-off to wheels-on). Most airline logbooks record block time as total time. OOOIPilot derives both automatically and validates them against the printed totals on the page.
Where the times come from
Modern aircraft report OOOI automatically via ACARS, and the FMS/CDU shows them on a status page. You photograph that page and OOOIPilot reads the four times.
